Montezuma’s are pioneers of environmentally friendly packaging in the UK’s chocolate industry with the aim to cut out the need for single-use plastics this Easter.
Many know about the amount of waste caused by seasonal holidays such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween. With an unimaginable amount of single waste plastic and foils packaging on confectionery; Award winning chocolate brand Montezuma’s are taking big steps to ensure they’re being sustainable as possible. After being having brand ethics to be as sustainable and ethical as possible, in 2020 they’ve decided to turn to 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable.
Where they once used metallised plastic, they’re now using 100% paper and card. This wasn’t easy; They had to ensure all glues, inks, finishes on the packaging was completely biodegradable and eco-friendly. The windows on their boxes are made from biodegradable wood pulp and theplastic being used to hold the eggs is now card fitments.
