Did you know that there is a whole new planet-friendly way to keep your food fresh? It is called The Vegan Food Wraps Company and it offers plastic-free alternative to cling film and single-use plastic. Tom, the founder, has shared with us some interesting facts about the company and the products! Let’s find out more!
What is The Vegan Food Wraps Company?
“Hello, I’m Tom and I run The Vegan Food Wrap Company, a part of The Beeswax Wrap Company. The Vegan side of the business came about because many customers wanted a Vegan alternative to Beeswax Wraps. My wife Fran and her business partner Carly started The Beeswax Wrap Company in 2017, and they quickly became aware of key customers who were being left behind in their bid to support people on their plastic-free journey. After a great deal of research and development, in late 2018, the Vegan Food Wrap Company was born! Since the beginning, we have seen a significant demand for the wraps, as they are the perfect solution for people embarking on their plastic-free vegan journey!”
Their wraps are handmade in the heart of The Cotswolds, in the South West of the UK. All of their wraps are made using GOTS certified organic cotton, 100% plant-based wax, organic jojoba oil and pine resin. The result is a brilliantly effective and sustainable way to keep your food fresh for longer!
Why should we choose these vegan wraps instead of the classic cling film?
“Vegan Food Wraps are naturally breathable. The carefully sourced ingredients ensure they have a great natural stickiness, which means the wraps stay stuck around your sandwiches, keep your casseroles covered and are great at stopping your bread going stale.
Our reusable wraps are fast becoming the go-to addition to any vegan kitchen, healthy lunch box, picnic hamper or adventure travelers backpack. Our wraps are spreading throughout Europe and are tapping into the growing challenge that people are facing of finding ways to reduce their plastic usage” said Tom.
Their wraps are designed to be durable and sustainable. Each wrap is handmade, checked carefully and packed by hand in their workshop in Gloucestershire. You just need to follow simple washing instructions to re-use them for up to a year! Then simply pop them in your compost bin and let nature do the rest. A genuinely sustainable alternative to cling film, isn’t it?
Plastic use is sadly still on the increase. The World Economic Forum predicted that by 2050 20% of global oil production will be used in the manufacture of plastic packaging. Accounting for 15% of CO2 emissions globally. However, there is an increasing awareness of single use plastics and this has driven people to try to find alternative ways of keeping their food fresh.
