Fresh Daisy Baby Foods

Fresh Daisy was started by Gerrie Hawes in January 2003 as she became increasingly disillusioned with the quality and nutritional value of mainstream baby food. “It became clear to me that the harsh processes used to make cans and jars of baby food deliver a bland, over-processed taste”, she commented after working on children’s food at Heinz.

Fresh Daisy is prepared in a totally different way to conventional jars of baby food. The high quality organic ingredients are gently cooked to retain their natural taste, texture colour and nutritional content. Nothing is added to the fresh fruit and vegetables - no hidden salt, sugar or preservatives. The philosophy behind the company is simple: to give babies the best possible start in life. Gerrie says: “I believe educating the palate is as important as teaching a child their ABCs and how to walk”

Fresh Daisy get all their ingredients from Eostre Organics, an East Anglian Farming Co-operative who trade fairly with growers, supporting the future of independent farmers and the local farming community. Fresh Daisy are keen to use locally-grown produce as much as possible, and so the range includes seasonal varieties.

The range, which includes smooth purees and dishes with more texture for older babies comes frozen in portable individual pots. The company has won several awards, including Organic Food Award accolades for combinations such as Squash & Red Lentil and Peach, Plum & Vanilla.
